Welcome to the website of the Center for Diversity in Law at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law in Heidelberg!
The Center, headed by Max Planck Research Fellow Emanuel V. Towfigh, is dedicated to researching and promoting diversity in the legal system. The aim is to improve access to justice for marginalized and underrepresented groups (especially people of color, women and people disadvantaged due to their religion or social background) through empirical and legal-dogmatic research, networking and international exchange. At the same time, the acceptance of our constitutional and democratic order is strengthened. Research into the reasons for structural inequalities in the law and their reduction should promote access to the legal system.
