This year the students of the focus area »Digitalization & Law« were invited to the law firm Clifford Chance for the defense of their bachelor theses. The six students were able to master the final step of their Bachelor’s degree while enjoying the view of the Frankfurt skyline. The examination was again conducted by Prof. Dr. Michael Goldhammer, LL.M. (Michigan) with his research assistants Nicholas Lorenz and Luisa Zöllner as well as Prof. Dr. Emanuel V. Towfigh with Svea Alberti and Johannes Felsner.
The topics of the bachelor theses included:
- Connected urban spaces: the legal challenges of smart cities
- Cybersecurity and state responsibility: legal framework for the protection of critical infrastructures
- Legal reasons for enforcement deficits in the digitalization of administration and potential solutions
- Providers and operators of artificial intelligence as legal service providers
- Can citizens seek legal protection under administrative law against the state’s use of algorithms?
- The legal relationship is a central category of administrative law. To what extent can AI play a role in a legal relationship and what consequences does this have for legal protection?
During a joint lunch, the students also had the opportunity to get acquainted with the firm and the lawyers.
We would like to express our thanks to Clifford Chance for their excellent hospitality and look forward to an opportunity to meet again soon!
